Top Gun: Questions & Answers
When can I make my video?
Flights are possible year-round but must be scheduled in advance.
Do I need to be a pilot or have prior jet flying
experience?
No. Well send you up with an expert L-39 pilot. The L-39
is a jet trainer and was designed so it could easily be flown
by student fighter pilots. The pilot in command can actually have
his hands on the controls at the same time you do, helping to
guide you through maneuvers. On camera, it will appear you are
flying the jet.
How long will all this take?
The flight itself will last about 45 minutes, but its a
good idea to plan for this video-making adventure to take at least
two hours to complete. Your day starts with a briefing session
where youll learn about the L-39 and its capabilities
and safety systems. Youll also hear how the L-39 has been
used in making movies. After the flight, youll want time
to celebrate a bit with your pilot and film production team.
What physical requirements are there?
You must have no known heart problems or medical conditions which
may be aggravated by g-forces. If you are taller than 66”
or heavier than 250 pounds, we may not be able to accommodate
you. Please ask before scheduling your film shoot.
Is weather a problem?
It can be, although California and Nevada are known for great
weather. If you cant fly due to weather, there is no refund.
Well work to reschedule your flight for another day.
Where can I make my Hollywood Top Gun movie?
We suggest you make your L-39 fighter jet movie in California,
either near Los Angeles or San Diego, where our stunt pilots and
planes are based. This is the least expensive way to make your
own movie in a fighter jet. Other locations are possible, but
require the payment of a relocation fee to cover the cost of moving
the plane, pilot and video equipment to a different airport and
obtaining any necessary filming permits. For example, the cost
to fly and film near Las Vegas is $4950 and includes a $2000 crew
and equipment relocation charge.
