One Day Great White
Shark Adventures
Our one-day shark adventures depart from Fisherman's
Wharf in the heart of San Francisco, California. You'll travel
to the Farallons aboard a 55 ft high-speed catamaran. The New
Eldorado III provides the perfect combination of speed and stability.
The waters between San Francisco and the Farallons are rough even
on the best weather day, so having a boat capable of tackling
the waves is important to your comfort.
Sample Itinerary
Arrive
at the designated dock by 6:30 am to get checked in and ready
for an on-time 7 am departure. After meeting our crew and other
shark lovers and receiving a safety briefing from Captain Eddie,
you'll have time to grab some breakfast. While you're eating,
our naturalist will tell you more about the Farallons and share
things you need to know to get the most out of your shark viewing
adventure. We get all the formalities out of the way on the trip
out so you can spend all your time at the Farallons either on
the viewing deck or in the cage.
Once at the Farallons, we'll meet up with Captain
Vince and crew and passengers aboard the White Holly, the 133
ft research vessel used for our two-day Farallons expeditions.
Throughout the day, the two boats and crews will work in tandem,
making sure IA shark cage divers get to spend lots of time in
the water. Topsiders will find they have a very important role.
Those not cage diving serve as "lookouts", standing alongside
our naturalists and scanning the horizon for signs of shark activity.
The passengers and crew of the New Eldorado III
will wave good-bye to the White Holly and head back to San Francisco
late in the afternoon, arriving at the dock around 5 pm.
Pricing & Details
One Day Cage Diver Adventure - $875
Our expert shark diver team will accompany you to the best
viewing areas within the Marine Sanctuary. There, we'll drop our
cage and prepare to provide you with a view you'll never forget.
No dive experience is necessary. Our cages sit just
below the surface. You can snorkel or make use of the hookah
system on the White Holly. You'll be able to breathe comfortably
from your snorkel or air hose while you move about the cage, taking
photos and having fun.
There's no need for you to pack your dive gear.
All you need to bring is a mask and snorkel and warm clothes for
before and after your dive. We'll provide a wet suit for you to
wear during your dives and meals and refreshments on board. The
waters near the Farallons are cold and murky but you'll be nice
and toasty when the shark action heats up.
Top Shark Adventure - $375
If you want to see great white sharks but prefer them a little
further away, we offer great top-side shark viewing from our observation
deck. Help scan the horizon for fins and watch for breaching sharks
attacking their prey. Be sure to dress warm and in lots of layers.
The Details
Dives are currently offered select Saturdays and Sundays, during
the months of September, October and November. (We've picked the
prime months for shark viewing.) Our boat can comfortably accommodate
12 or more cage divers and up to 6 top-siders.
Important Notes
There's No Shark Guarantee
Although we go to the best places at the best time of year, we
cannot guarantee you'll see sharks. We've been very successful
in past shark seasons and expect another incredible year. However,
if we see no sharks, there is no refund. If we are unable to deliver
your adventure due to weather or unforeseen mechanical problems,
there is no refund. We will work with you to reschedule your cage
dive or top-side experience for a future date.
Seasickness Happens
There is a good chance you'll experience a bit of seasickness
on our shark adventures. Even our experienced shark dive crew
still gets seasick from time to time. You can help minimize your
chances by taking a seasickness remedy both the night before your
great white shark trip and the morning of your trip. If you do
start to feel poorly on the ride out to the Farallons, our staff
is there to help you. Often a little time on the deck in the fresh
air is all it takes to make you feel better.
