SKYDIVE EVEREST UPDATE: SEPTEMBER, 2008:

Five News (UK) reporter Jane Dougall, along with producer Laura Wilshaw and cameraman Adam Boyle, have travelled to Nepal with Skydive Everest. In a world first, Jane will be jumping from 29,500 feet and skydiving into the Himalayas and writing about her experiences along the way. The Expedition Everest Blog has great photos and video too.

SKYDIVE EVEREST UPDATE MAY, 2008:

The Everest Skydive Team was in Nepal in May to make final preparations for September's history-making jumps. Here is a bit of what organizer Nigel Gifford wrote to us from the other side of the world:

“All the preparations have gone well here and Kathmandu is buzzing with what we are doing...The Everest Skydive Freefall Team are being called Lungpa! This is the Tibetan word for mystical beings that jump long distance and over mountains!”

"This footage was taken in May from one of the helicopters in the air and from the hotel by the DZ when we went to pre-position some of the equipment for September/October and make a further "double check" of the area. We were delighted with the performance of the Navigator 260 canopies that we will be using for the big jump in October. They handled and performed even better than as we had expected! This time we jumped from helicopters from 12,000ft lower than Everest Summit and we landed in nil winds with either perfect stand up, or very good landings onto the highest DZ in the world."
