Incredible Dolphin Encounter

Grab your camera and join us in paradise. Spend an amazing week with wild dolphins of the Bahamas. Travel to the home of Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) and Atlantic Spotted Dolphins (Stenella frontalis).

Sample Adventure Itinerary
Day 1	Arrive in Freeport, Bahamas. Board the R/V Tiburon at Port Lucaya Marina and Yacht club by 5pm. Settle into your stateroom then join the crew for orientation and a safety briefing at 5:30pm. Refreshments and hors-d’oeuvres served onboard. Free time to explore Freeport. Be back on board by 12 midnight for an early morning departure.
Day 2	Wake up on the dolphin banks in the early morning. Receive briefing in dolphin interaction protocols. Take turns spotting for dolphins or using the tender scouting other locations throughout the day. Evening lectures on dolphin biology given by our naturalist.
Days 3-5	Help photograph, video and document the dolphins encountered. Use a catalogue of images to identify specific dolphins by name.
Day 6	Depart the dolphin grounds by noon. Return to Freeport, stopping along the way to snorkel the shallow Sugar shipwreck. Dock at Lucaya Marina by late afternoon. A farewell dinner is served aboard. Those with flights the next day can stay overnight on the Tiburon.
Day 7	Continental breakfast is served. Depart the R/V Tiburon by 9 am.

Complete your SCUBA certification while onboard the R/V Tiburon.
Silent Diving: rebreather training and equipment is available for advanced divers. Rebreathers allow you to get much closer to marine life by eliminating bubbles.

Dolphins & You
Our week-long Dolphin Encounter provides an opportunity for you to get up close and personal with incredible dolphins in the wild. At the same time, you’ll be helping to gather critical photographs and video that will help catalogue a population of over 200 spotted and 200 bottlenose dolphins. Observations are made underwater while snorkeling, as well as from the surface.
