Romance in an L-39: A True Hollywood Top Gun Love
Story
Wayne knew his girlfriend Robi
had a life long dream to fly in a fighter jet, so he arranged a Hollywood
Top Gun Dogfight Adventure for the two of them on her birthday.
That's not all he arranged.
As the two flew 13,500 feet high before a backdrop of snow-capped
mountains, Robi's pilot asked her to look for a piece
of paper he thought was somewhere near her seat. Just as she looked
down and spotted the engagement ring Wayne had hidden in the
jet, Robi's pilot gave the signal and Wayne proposed to her over
the radio.
The world's first ever "fighter jet to fighter
jet" marriage proposal was captured on video, of course. We think it's
going to make a great movie the two will watch over and over.
If you'd like to make your own movie in an L-39, send us an email or give us a
call. Pricing starts at $2950.
(Thanks to photographer Bruce
Hershey for the great photos. See more of Bruce's pictures of Robi
and Wayne here.)
Good-Bye Galina, Hello Lena
Those
of you who have flown a MiG in Moscow should remember Galina well. After
over a dozen years with our company and over a decade as General Manager
of our Moscow office, Galina has decided to retire. She'll be moving
to Canada to be near her son. We're going to be sad to see her leave,
but we know she'll be leaving our Moscow office in good hands.
Those of you who know Galina and would like to send her a wish for a
happy retirement can email her at galina@incredible-adventures.com.
If
you fly a MiG
in Russia with us this year, you'll meet our new General Manager,
Lena. Last season, Lena was in charge of taking IA customers to
Vyazma Air Base to fly the L-39 and she's worked
as a part-time guide for us for several years. She's a graduate
of Moscow Linguistic University and she completed training at the
International Institute of Tourism and Management in Austria. We first
met Lena while she was working for one of Moscow's top travel agencies.
More Changes Planned in Moscow
We've
learned that commercial airlines aren't always reliable. They can cancel
flights, change schedules, have mechanical problems or experience
weather delays. (OK...so we were a little slow to catch on.)
That's why we're putting together new Moscow itineraries
recommending customers go by train from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod, where
our MiG flights take place. Making it to your MiG flight on time is
right up there with making it to your wedding on time and when
it comes to schedule reliability, trains beat planes every time. Weather
permitting, customers will continue to return to Moscow by plane.
It should be noted that all MiG itineraries include a disclaimer. We just can't control
the weather. Fortunately, our Moscow staff is great at flipping things
around and doing whatever is necessary to make sure you get the
adventure of your dreams.
ZERO-G Corp Awarded NASA Contract
When
our US zero-gravity plane isn't flying customers
like you weightless over Florida or Las Vegas, it will now be flying
personnel and experiments for NASA out of NASA's Johnson Space Center
in Houston and Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. NASA and ZERO-G
Corp signed a renewable one-year contract earlier this month.
If you'd like to join a zero-g flight and experience the
weightlessness of space, give us a call at 800-644-7382. You can find
a list of upcoming flight dates
on our website.

| Tim
Taylor to Be Honored at Explorers Club Dinner |
|
Our
very own Tim Taylor will be awarded the Explorers Club's Citation
of Merit at the organization's 104th Annual Dinner, taking place
March 15 in New York. The Citation of Merit is awarded
in recognition of an outstanding feat of exploration and/or service
to the Club. Previous winners include fellow ocean
explorers Dr Sylvia Earle and Dr Robert Ballard. The
theme of this year's dinner is, appropriately enough, "Exploring
Planet Ocean".
When he's not discovering
new coral reefs or leading Explorers Club Flag expeditions aboard
his boat the RV Tiburon, Tim helps to oversee the operation
of IA's great white shark adventures
in San Francisco and tiger
shark adventures in the Bahamas.
You can read more about
Tim Taylor and other members of our Incredible Adventures family
here. For more information on the prestigious
Explorers Club, visit their website: www.explorers.org
