A Shark Breaches off the Farallon Islands

The Farallon Islands, also known as The Farallones are located approximately 27 miles west of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay Entrance. The Farallons consist of rocky islets extending North West for seven miles.

Fisherman Bay, just north of Farallon light, is somewhat protected by several rocky islets on the West side and affords anchorage in 8 fathoms in the outer part. This island is where most of the research on Great White Sharks is conducted. Many documentaries and specials have been filmed here. Southeast Farallon is home to the largest mature population of Great White Sharks in the world.
