The fly-fishing adventure of a lifetime: Kamchatka, Siberia

Stretch your arms to the size of the biggest rainbow trout or salmon you've ever dreamed of. Now, stretch 'em a bit more. That's what you'll be reeling in! (I caught my share of these monsters last August and then some!)

We'll take you on the adventure of a lifetime - by helicopter, to Russia's untamed Kamchatka peninsula. Crystal clear streams few have ever seen - spawning grounds for all six species of Pacific salmon, home to the prized Siberian and Arctic Char and teeming with trophy-sized Rainbows that will dazzle the imaginations and test the skills of even the best anglers.

Choose from two trips this August (Aug. 15-22 and Aug. 22-29). The adventure begins in Anchorage, where you'll fly to Russia's Petropavlovsk- Kamchatsky international airport. You'll be driven to the awaiting MI-8 helicopter which (weather permitting), will fly you to the upper reaches of the scenic Kolpakova River. You'll fly over mountains and volcanoes and old-growth forest, home to brown bear, moose, elk, polar fox, sable, mink and eagles.

Our experienced guides (affiliated with Kamchatka Department of Fish and Game) know the river inside and out from guiding westerners since the '80s. You'll float 5-6 miles each day, on American-made SOTAR inflatable rafts (guide and two anglers per raft). You'll stop at the best fishing holes, where the guides can advise you how to catch the best fish. After an exciting day of fishing, you'll make camp - the guides will pitch the Northface® tents, haul the gear and prepare delicious Russian meals (with fresh meats and fish and a cornucopia of fresh veggies). Then, you can relax by the fire, swap stories and get a taste of the Russian soul. After five days on the river, you'll return to civilization to shop and explore the town. After a good night's rest, you'll fly back to Anchorage. Each trip limited to the first ten anglers.

Kamchatka Fly-Fishing Adventure $3,950.00

We'll provide visa support, fishing license, guides, interpreter, cook and all meals on the river, Russian transportation (helicopters and buses), rafts, tents, air mattresses and sleeping bags so you can relax and enjoy this incredible adventure. We'll also assist you with airline reservations (and, if you desire, travel insurance). Seats from Anchorage, AK on Magadan Airlines have been reserved but will be paid for, directly, by you ($1,312 plus tax).
