Equipment & Safety for
Skydive Denali
Denali Skydivers will jump from altitude using state-of-the-art
oxygen systems and wearing skydiving equipment identical to that
trusted by our US military. Intercom systems will allow for communication
between skydivers, who will fly in formations designed to increase
visibility and safety.
One jump master in each group of skydivers will carry a pack
containing arctic survival gear….just in case. We’ll loan you
a special thermal jumpsuit to help protect you from the frigid
arctic air but you will be required to provide some of your own
winter wear.
Equipment used by our jump team includes equipment designed for
military personnel such as the AAD* (automatic opening device)
from FXC/Guardian
Parachute, the Vigil
AAD and military versions of the Cyprus
(a jumper can adjust activation in the plane if the landing zone
changes and it is at a different altitude). So you set to MSL*
elevation not AGL* altitude. Also shown is the Twin050 Jump Bottle
System from Carleton
Technologies.
Definitions (Source: USPA):
AAD - A self-contained mechanical or electro-mechanical device
that is attached to the interior of the reserve parachute container,
which automatically initiates parachute deployment of the reserve
parachute at a pre-set altitude, time, percentage of terminal
velocity, or combination thereof.
MSL - Altitude measured from sea level.
AGL - Above ground level. Refers to altitude, e.g., 5,000 feet
AGL.
