World Space Party: Celebrate Human Space Flight on Yuri's Night, April 12, 2012

Yuri's Night World Space Party ~ April 12, 2016

Celebrating the Anniverary of Human Space Flight

On April 12, 1961, Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the very first man in space. Exactly 20 years later, on April 12, 1981, America launched Columbia, the country's first space shuttle.

Every year events are planned worldwide to honor these achievements in space travel. To see some of the events planned, please visit Yuri's Night.

In Florida last year, workers at Kennedy Space Center gathered to pay tribute to the shuttle by making a human one for an aerial photo. View the video below. Watch a short History of Human Spaceflight video.

Of course, we think the best way to celebrate space is by going weightless. You don't have to be an astronaut to experience zero-gravity. Private zero-gravity flights are available all year long in sunny St Petersburg, Florida for just $2500.
