Tiger Beach is a shallow area of ocean roughly 20 miles off the coast of Grand Bahama. The popular shark diving spot is known for its big tiger sharks, reef sharks, lemon sharks and nurse sharks.
How can I get to Grand Bahama?
Grand Bahama is located just 52 miles east of Florida. Shark divers can travel to Grand Bahama by air or sea. Several international airlines fly into Freeport (FPO) and seaplane service is available from Florida. There is a cruise ship that offers scheduled service from Ft. Lauderdale and a ferry offering service from Miami.
Do I need a passport to visit the Bahamas?
Yes.
Do I need dive to be dive certified to shark dive?
No. Incredible Adventures uses a floating shark cage and surface-supplied air, so cage diving in the Bahamas is a bit like snorkeling. A trained dive professional will teach you everything you need to know, on the way to the sharks.
How long are the shark diving trips?
Plan for an 8-hour day, although your trip could be shorter, depending on sea conditions, number of shark divers and shark activity.
Where do we board the shark boat?
Trips depart from Old Bahama Bay Resort, in West End, Grand Bahama. The luxury resort and marina are about a 40 minute cab ride from Freeport/Port Lucaya.
What is the cost?
Cage divers pay $875 and topsiders pay $375 to join an existing scheduled trip. You can pick your own trip date by paying $3850 for a semi-private charter (up to 4 participants) or $5250 for a private charter (up to 8 participants).
Note: The additional purchase of dive or trip insurance is required. The cost of insurance varies by provider and selected coverage.
Am I guaranteed to see sharks?
No. Your odds of seeing a shark in the Bahamas are very high, but we cannot control nature. There is a chance you will not.
