Fifteen Incredible Years

Migsetc - Fifteen Incredible YearsOh the stories we can tell! This month marks the 15th anniversary of our very first MiG flight in Russia.  We aren't kidding when we tell you it's been one incredible adventure after another.

There was the time our Russian General Manager had to bail a customer out of the Moscow Militia Station. (The same Moscow General Manager that married one of our MiG customers and moved to New Jersey, where they've been living happily ever after for over a decade.) And the time a German customer accused us of trying to kill him. (We tried to explain that flying low over treetops was normal for our pilots.)

We'll never forget Katrina Mumaw, the amazing 11 year old who convinced us to let her fly a MiG.  Now 25, she went on to graduate from the US Air Force Academy and continues on her quest to become an astronaut. Or the customer that was so rude to everyone in Russia that his Russian test pilot intentionally tried to make him sick during his flight. (The plan backfired. The customer had an unusually strong stomach and loved every moment of his flight.)

One of our very first customers back in 1993 was former New York Times writer Peter Passell. We think you'll enjoy reading what it was like to fly a MiG 15 years ago. You can find a copy of Peter's 1993 article here.

Visit our website to see the photos our most recent MiG flyers.  For more information about scheduling your own MiG adventure and being part of our next 15 years, email Greg.

The First But Not Last

Skydive Everest Skydive Everest

History has been made! We're happy to report that the first-ever Everest Skydive was a success. All our skydivers landed safely on the highest jump zone on earth.

That's not to say that everything went perfectly. In the world of adventure, things can and often do go wrong, especially when you're attempting something for the very first time. Bad weather wreaked havoc on the jump schedule and the totally unrelated crash of an aircraft shut down operations for a day.

Skydive EverestPlans are already underway to offer a second Skydive Everest adventure in May. We're currently gathering feedback from this year's jumpers and trekkers. Their comments and suggestions will help make sure the second Everest Skydive is even better than the first.

Great News from the TSA: Anyone Can Fly the DC-3

Fly the DC-3Great news for DC-3 lovers from around the world! You no longer have to be an American citizen to fly the incredible DC-3 with pilot and owner Dan Gryder. Dan just received an official rule clarification from the United States Transportation Security Administration. We've got it in writing. Foreign citizens can take a single introductory flight without going through the costly and time-consuming TSA security clearance application process.

If you're one of the many Brits, Canadians and Europeans we had to turn away in the past, please call us. We'd love to put you in the cockpit of Dan's DC-3.

Assorted Stuff to Know

Go weightless over Tampa in January. The Florida flight has just been added to the 2009 Zero-G Flight Schedule.

Cast for the upcoming movie "Kerosene Cowboys" has been announced. Among those playing pilots and pretending to fly fighters in the movie will be Shane West, known for his role on the popular medical drama "ER" and Troy Garity, son of actress Jane Fonda. The guys really doing the flying will be IA's own Hollywood Top Gun pilots.

Kevin Holbrook, director of our US HALO Jump Adventure, wants to remind everyone that HALO skydives are now offered all year long from our new location near New Orleans. No prior skydiving experience is necessary.

A Report from IA's Secret Agent Intern

When you hear "Incredible Adventures" you probably think of a huge company. I know I did, but really they are a small laid back company that can get the job done but still have fun. I've been here for a month now and no day has been the same.

I have made report cards to get feedback from customers who recently returned from an Incredible Adventure.  We are always looking for information online to make the adventures incredible for customers.  One thing that makes IA better than any other company is they care about the customers.

There are always some good stories flying around the office, usually about Greg and his odd fashion style. Just knowing that I am involved in something so incredible is an honor.  I love this opportunity and I hope to learn as much as possible.

(Editor's Note: Robert is a high school student at Sarasota's Riverview High School. He's spending two hours a day in the IA office, learning what it's like to run a business.)
