Breadalbane Under the Arctic Ice Philip Bruecker: Biologist and lecturer, Philip spent an entire year in Resolute Bay as a member of "Polar Pro" — a unique study into the general dynamics of the Arctic food web. His expertise in all manner of biological sampling and exotic ice, water and land vehicles, makes Philip a crucial member of the expedition team. Jean-Michel Cousteau: Film producer, architect, and acclaimed diver, Jean-Michel has spent much of his life at sea, exploring and fighting for our undersea world. He is the co-spokesperson (with Sylvia Earle) for the U.S. Pavilion at the Lisbon Expo dedicated to the "Year of the Ocean." Dr. James Delgado: Executive Director of the Vancouver Maritime Museum, James is a trained underwater archaeologist and has led several shipwreck archaeological expeditions throughout four continents. Dr. Sylvia Earle: Combining the credentials of scientist, explorer, policy maker, and conservationist, Sylvia is known worldwide as an effective ambassador for the sea. She has led more than 50 expeditions, amounting to 6,000 hours underwater, and holds numerous dive records, including several to depths of 3,000 feet in a one-person submersible. Dr. Richard Fagen: Author and editor of 16 books, Richard draws from his 32-year teaching career at Stanford for his dynamic lectures. Dr. Jack Grove: Zegrahm co-founder and Explorers Club member, Jack is a marine biologist, photographer, and dive master. He has a love for the oceans and for leading expeditions to the far reaches of the world. Peter Harrison, MBE: Zegrahm co-founder, Explorers Club member and active conservationist, Peter is widely considered the world's foremost authority on seabirds and has authored many books on the subject. Dr. George Hobson: Lecturer and historian, George has been the Director of the Polar Continental Shelf Project, which coordinated all government and university science projects in the Arctic. George has conducted extensive research into the discovery of Sir John Franklin's grave and ships. Pete Jess: Deep Expeditions director and co-founder, Pete is an engineering technician and logistics expert who has designed and managed many different projects and expeditions in the Canadian Arctic for 20 years. His extensive knowledge of Arctic geography, people and landscape is invaluable to our operation. Pete will serve as expedition manager at Ice Station Beechey. Adam Kalluk: A native Inuit who has lived his entire life on the land in the Arctic Islands, Adam is an extremely experienced guide and wildlife expert. Mike Messick: Zegrahm co-founder and Explorers Club member, Mike has led expeditions (many of them first-ever) to the remote corners of the world, including numerous trips to the Arctic. Shirley Metz: Zegrahm co-founder, Explorers Club member, and modern day adventurer and explorer, Shirley became the first woman to ski overland to the South Pole, a journey of over 800 miles. Dr. Phil Nuytten: Deep Expeditions director and co-founder, and creator of a series of Atmospheric Diving Systems, including Remora, Sea Urchin, DeepWorker, and the internationally acclaimed "Newtsuit," Phil has been a moving force in the commercial underwater industry since 1966. He's also a popular lecturer and author. Virginia Nuytten: Historian, lecturer, and former museum curator, Virginia has published a series of tourism pieces and was an interpretive guide at Arctic Watch — a world class whale watching facility in Canada's Arctic. John Splettstoesser: Lecturer, author, geologist and researcher, John has been a lecturer on more than 70 expeditions. His work in Antarctica has included ice-core drilling, mineral potential, and an assignment as National Science Foundation representative. Dr. Don Walsh: Oceanographer, explorer and retired U.S. Navy captain, Don made world headlines in 1960 when he piloted the Navy bathyscaph Trieste to the deepest point in the world's oceans. Art Wolfe: World-renowned photographer, Art's 20-year career has taken him to every continent. His unique approach to nature photography is based on his training in the arts and his love for the environment. Note: Expedition leaders listed above will vary for each departure date. However, each departure will have a mix of experts. |
